Pine Grove Learning Commons Presents…
The Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading Program
A Literacy Initiative

What is the Forest of Reading?
The Forest of Reading is a library program in which books written and illustrated by Canadians are read by or to students.  Students then participate in a province-wide event by voting for their favourite book in April 2015.  Based on the voting results, the author and illustrator are honoured with the award.

This library program is open to all students at Pine Grove.  Students are required to read the appropriate number of books in their age group.  Once the books are read, students are asked to complete activities related to their reading and vote for the book they decide is the most appealing for their age group. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate from the Ontario Library Association.  Students who wish to participate in the program are asked to see Mrs. Meleca in the Pine Grove Learning Commons.

2014 Scholastic Book Fair Results
Thank you to the many parents, students and staff who volunteered and lent a helping hand to make our Pine Grove Scholastic Book Fair Literacy Event a huge success.  In November, the Pine Grove community and families helped our school by purchasing $7200.00 in books – thank you!  By making purchases at the Scholastic Book Fair, our school will be able to purchase more books for our classrooms and for our Learning Commons.  Once again, this event helped promote literacy in our school by providing students with a variety of fiction and non-fiction materials at all levels and has allowed students to appreciate good quality literature.

Enjoy your new books and happy reading!
