YRDSB has a new App!

YRDSB Mobile App
York Region District School Board has launched an app which will enable staff, students, parents and community members to quickly access information from their mobile devices.
The YRDSB Mobile App provides users with up-to-date news, student resources, school maps and contact information for trustees and senior administration. Users will also be able to access the Report It tool, school year calendars, transportation information and much more.
The app will continue to be updated and new features will be added as needed. Have a suggestion? Please fill out our feedback form.

Safety Drills




With the spring weather having finally arrived, we will be conducting a few safety drills.  In the next few weeks all students will participate in three different fire drills and one lockdown procedure drill. These drills are conducted every year and help students learn and practice the appropriate response to emergency situations.  

Social Justice Week at Pine Grove P.S. April 7-10

The week of April 7-10th Pine Grove P.S. is celebrating Social Justice Week!  All grades and classes will be participating in various lessons and activities that focus on the theme of social justice.  Please note the following special days:


Tuesday April 7th:  Wear a number because we all count!



Wednesday April 8th is International Day of Pink! Anti-bullying Day.  Wear pink to raise awareness against bullying, discrimination, and homophobia!




Thursday April 9th:  Wear pajamas to put bullying to bed!



Friday April 10th:  Wear a white t shirt and a pair of boots!  We are all giving the message that we stand united to stamp out bullying!

Earth Hour

A message from the  Pine Grove Eco club....

This Saturday March 28th, 2015 at the Vaughan City Hall, Vaughan is celebrating Earth Hour with their yearly outdoor lantern walk, to show that our earth matters. 

Please come out and participate!  Get your family and friends to join in and support our school and be a part of the biggest environmental movement in history.

Did you know that over 7000 cities in the world participate?!

There will be lantern making, Reptilia will be there, prizes, a flash mob and all sorts of exciting things.

Program at the community library

The Pierre Berton Resource Library in our community is offering the following program for elementary school students:

Creative Writing - Grades 4 – 6
A creative writing program for grades 4-6 will take place at the Pierre Berton Resource Library on Saturday, March 14th between 2 - 3 pm.

Joel A. Sutherland, author of the Haunted Canada series and Be a Writing Superstar, will run this fun and interactive workshop at the library. The focus will be on games and activities that engage children to write and write well. The tickets are $5 each. Students are encouraged to sign-up as soon as possible if they are interested. The program has a seat limitation of 25 students. To register please go to Pierre Berton Resource Library in person.
