Coaches and Assistant Coaches Needed! Girls on the Run
GirlsOnTheRun & GirlsOnTrack
Girls on the Run and Girls on Track is a program that
inspires girls from grades 3 to 8 to be happy healthy and confident
individuals, using a fun experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates
running. The program also teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive
lessons and running games.
In order to keep the program running as in previous
years, we need Coaches and Assistant Coaches. If you are interested, please call
the school and leave your name and number and when you are available.
The program runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00pm to
4:30pm. If you can only make it once a week that would be great too!
Make a difference and put a smile on a girls face!

Paper
Pine
Grove has a “GOOS” paper system in place at the school and encourages families
to create a “GOOS” bin in our homes. A “GOOS”
bin is a bin which holds misprint paper or sheets with printing only on one
side which can be used as scratch pads for notes, messages, rough work, and
doodle pads. In the school, the bins have been strategically placed in
classrooms and various locations within the building where paper is often used. This system helps our staff and students to
reduce and reuse paper first, before recycling. The Eco team encourages
everyone to place “GOOS” bins of various sizes in our classrooms, study rooms,
offices, by our home phone, even in our kitchens. You will be amazed as to how
often this “GOOS” paper will come to good use.
Cold Weather
Cold Weather
A reminder that with winter fully upon us, please send your
child to school dressed and prepared to go outside. There is no Board-wide temperature threshold
for the automatic suspension of outdoor activity based on weather conditions. We use Board guidelines and recommendations to
determine whether or not students will go outside for recess.
The following is from the YRDSB Extreme Hot and Cold Weather and UV Protection Guideline
- When temperatures and/or wind chill reach minus 20 degrees Celcius, consider an indoor routine for recess/events.
- When temperatures and/or wind chill reach minus 18-19 degrees Celcius, consider a shortened outdoor routine for recess/events.
- Students with health concerns, such as, but not limited to, heavy colds, coughs and flu, which are serious enough to prevent them from participating in physical education, recesses or other outdoor activities, should remain at home until the condition improves.
- Students are to come to school ready for winter and prepared to be outdoors.
- Children need to be dressed properly for our invigorating winter days. It is advisable for students to bring extra pants and socks. A change is often necessary due to the wet and cold weather of the winter months. To avoid adding to the clothing collection in the Lost and Found, parents/guardians should be advised to label all articles of clothing, including but not limited to, boots, hats, mitts/gloves, scarves, and snow pants.
